CLAIRE GAUDION || TEXTILES
Claire Gaudion designs feature a sophisticated use of colour, pattern and texture. Taking inspiration from the ever-changing seascapes and coastal landscapes of the Channel Islands, her printed and woven textiles depict the islands’ natural rhythms with unique colour combinations and rhythmic geometric and abstract patterns.
Other design influences include abstract expressionist painters, Clifford Still, Barnett Newman and Rothko, Bauhaus designers Anni Albers and Gunta Stölzl, and artists and colourists Paul Klee and Sonia Delaunay.
Claire Gaudion textiles are developed and sampled in her rural Hampshire studio, before being produced in specialist mills in the UK. Claire Gaudion's Lambswool designs are woven in Wales and Scotland. Her Cashmere and Silk Merino designs are woven in Lancashire, and her fabrics are printed in Manchester, Lancaster and Macclesfield. Claire Gaudion is proud to work with the established, and specialist mills and skilled craftspeople manufacturing in the UK.
